What makes you different than your competition? That’s a question you and your staff need to be asking yourselves right now.
I’m Jim Blake, owner of Bambiz Marketing. We help Elder Law and Estate Planning attorneys book more consultations and secure more paying clients through online marketing. We do that because our goal is that nobody dies without a plan. You are the vehicle that can make that happen.
So back to the question: What makes you and your law firm different from the competition?
Let’s be real: there are other elder law estate planning attorneys who can probably help people just like you can. Still, nobody can do it exactly like you, and that’s what makes you different.
My challenge for you this week is to sit down with your team and take an hour, maybe even a day offsite out of the office, to come up with the reasons or principles that make you different. Make people want to work with you rather than the competition.
This needs to be more than just, “We care more than you know and keep accurate documents.” That should be a given. Most lawyers care for people and should have accurate documents.
It needs to be something that really makes you stand out. Come up with one, two, three, or four of these differentiating ideas.
Maybe it’s your:
- Culture
- Deliverables that you give
- Client care programs
- Level of service and how you treat them
That way, when people are doing their research before they come in, they can say, “Hey, that that law firm, that’s where I want to go because they do things differently.”
Get your team members together and brainstorm this. I think that’s where the real heart and soul of the law firm is going to come out, and that’s where you’re going to get the best results.
