Do You Know When to Post on Social Media?

You’ve read all the tips and know exactly what types of content you want to post on social media. You’re ready to be a success and get your followers to engage with you. It sounds easy enough, right?

However, even after you post your amazing content, you don’t seem to be getting the comments and likes that you had anticipated.

So, what is the problem?

While the content that you share is crucial to your success, so is the timing of the post. Thanks to social media tools like Hootsuite, you can create your post in advance and schedule them to go live at specific times and dates.

Now you just need to know the best time to schedule those posts.

Posting on Facebook

The best way to determine when your Facebook post should go live is to look at Facebook’s social media insights tool. To do that, go to your Facebook page, click on the “Insights” tab at the top, scroll down until you see a link that says “See All Posts.” Click that link and it will bring up a screen that shows when the majority of your followers are online according to days and times.

While scheduling your posts based on your Insights is a great place to start, you may want to play around with publishing times to see what works best.

According to several studies, the best days to post are Wednesdays and Thursdays. The highest audience activity was between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., but the posts with the most interaction were published between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Posting to Twitter

While Twitter does offer analytics in regard to which tweets receive the most engagement, this social media platform doesn’t break things down the way that Facebook does. To find the analytics that they do offer, go to Twitter Analytics and you’ll see an overview of your activity. Scroll down to the current month and below the button labeled “Top Tweet” is a link called “View Tweet Activity.” Beside it is one titled “View All Tweet Activity.” Click this link and it will bring up an overview of all your Tweets.

If viewing this information doesn’t give you enough information, studies show that the best days to post on Twitter are Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the tweets between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. have the best performance.

Other Social Media Platforms

While Facebook and Twitter are two of the most commonly used social media platforms out there, they aren’t the only ones. If you prefer to use LinkedIn or Instagram, those both have options available to view your analytics as well.

In Conclusion

Whichever platform you prefer to use, be sure to review the analytics to determine the best days and times for your audience when posting to social media.
