How to find groups on Facebook
If you’re using a desktop computer, you can find the groups button on the left side of the home page.

Then you can use the search bar at the top left of the screen to search groups.

If you aren’t sure which groups to look for or you’d like some ideas, click on Discover, and Facebook will populate groups Suggested for you, your Friends’ groups, popular groups near you, and more suggestions.
If you’re searching from your phone, click the Menu button on the bottom right of your screen.
Then click Groups from the options listed in the middle. On the following screen, the Search button will be located at the top right of the screen.

Identify the right groups
Not all Facebook groups are created equal. There are groups for every industry and interest. Find the ones that best align with your ideal clients.
Research Facebook groups that are relevant to your niche. For Elder Law and Estate Planning attorneys, the best groups to target would be groups that:
- Are local to your area
- Are made up of people around a certain age (around 45 – 65+)
Seek out your ideal clients through their common interests and hobbies. Think of your favorite clients in the past. What do they enjoy? Maybe you remember Bob is an avid golfer or that Marie enjoys the local arts market every Tuesday. Start creating a list of all the different types of groups you could seek out. Here are some examples here in Jacksonville, FL:
- Jacksonville, Florida Gardening Friends 🌺
- Murray Hill Community
- Jacksonville Golf
- Jacksonville Symphony Chorus
Join groups relevant to your target audience. Join as many as possible.
Here’s a post found in the New to Jacksonville group by just searching the word “attorney”

To search for terms within the group, all you need to do is click on the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the page. Then, search for terms like attorney, lawyer, estate, elderly, nursing home, etc. Some posts may be too old to engage with, but others will be great for gaining clients. For example, the post above was only a week old.

Make a great impression
When you first join a group, introduce yourself and your law firm. Share what makes your firm unique. Don’t start off with a sales pitch. Just get your name out there.
Engage with potential clients
Once you’ve introduced yourself, start engaging with potential clients. If you find any questions you know the answer to, answer and join in the conversation. It doesn’t even need to be strictly Elder Law or Estate Planning specific; you want to make yourself known in the group.
Participating in the discussion will allow others to get to know you better, making networking easier down the line.
By answering their questions, sharing valuable content, and providing support, they will automatically start to view you as an expert in the community.
When you share your content and insights, it will convince group members to do business with you, or they may recommend your services to friends and family.
Also, be sure to promote your services whenever appropriate. Don’t join and start bombarding their feeds with advertisements. Go with the slow and steady approach. The opportunities will present themselves in the future.
Close the deal
Eventually, posts or questions may arise in the group that aligns with how you can help.
Someone may be reaching out for an estate planning attorney recommendation, or they may have a loved one that needs help. These posts are where you can show up and offer your support and services.
Add this marketing strategy to get new clients from Facebook groups
