Meet Our Team

Jim Blake, Founder

Excelling at business has long been Jim’s number one professional passion. At age 9, Jim and his friend (also named Jim) discovered how to repair their toilet by re-attaching the disconnected flapper chainRealizing they were on to something, the boys printed and distributed flyers for J&J Plumbing. Unfortunately, Jim’s dad quickly shut down the “plumbing business,” but Jim’s entrepreneurial spirit lived on.
 
Upon graduation from Illinois State University, Jim started with Bridgestone Americas in their corporate fast track program. Jim was promoted numerous times during his 10-year career with Bridgestone and won the annual “Top Performer” sales award twice. Jim was also recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as a top “Up and Comer Under 30”.
 
Jim met many Elder Law and Estate Planning attorneys while attending the legal conferences his wife was planning. These attorneys all had one thing in common: they wanted to help more families and grow their practices.
 
Knowing he could help Elder Law and Estate Planning attorneys achieve that goal, Bambiz was born in 2016. Jim has since seen Bambiz grow into the company it is today, working with attorneys throughout the United States. It gives him great satisfaction to help law firms retain more clients and improve their practices.
 
Outside of business, Jim is passionate about running and fitness. He has completed over 28 full marathons on three continents and has a goal to finish all six World Marathon Majors. He is married to Andrea Blake, Head of Operations at Bambiz, and has a one-year-old daughter. Jim enjoys traveling, craft coffee shops, reading business books, and spending time with family.

Upon setting foot in the Paris Las Vegas hotel during a family vacation in high school, Andrea decided her life goal was to be in the hotel business. She went on to graduate with a degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida. She is also a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) by the Events Industry Council. The years after graduation brought Andrea many exciting job opportunities to experience all aspects of hotels.
 
Eventually, Andrea got tired of working weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts. She transitioned into corporate sales and event management for Hilton. It was during this time that her desire grew to work with a single client and plan their meetings. That is where her journey into elder law began.
 
Andrea spent over two years with ElderCounsel managing all aspects of their Elder Law education including in-person events and webinars. It was satisfying to watch attorneys learn, grow, and improve their practices because of the education that she had a hand in creating.
 
She then accepted a promotion to become the Events Director for the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, the nation’s largest estate planning conference that welcomes over 3,500 attendees. It was during her time at Heckerling that Andrea and her husband learned that they would soon be welcoming a daughter into their lives.
 
Wanting to be fully involved in raising her daughter, Andrea retired her event planning cap. She now works alongside her husband Jim to run Bambiz. She loves being able to put her Elder Law, Estate Planning, event management, and hospitality experiences to use daily.
 
When she isn’t working or chasing after her toddler, Andrea enjoys traveling, planning tennis and pickleball, visiting Disney, and relaxing on her beautiful Florida hometown beach.

Erin Teeters, Account Coordinator

Erin has always been known for her sense of style. In the 90s, this meant butterfly clips and glittery rubber bracelets stacked up both of her arms. As time went on, her style evolved (thankfully) and landed her in the fashion merchandising program at Florida State University. She learned the ins and outs of becoming a retail buyer and upon graduation, set her sights on doing just that.
 
Erin was living her dream life – so she thought. She was working with high-end designers and perfecting her inventory management, data analytics, social media marketing, and leadership skills. Yet, like all dreams, Erin’s evolved with time. Once she welcomed her son, her world view changed.
 
She realized the cubicle life, corporate world, and long hours in retail were not the recipe for a happy life. She set out to find something that would be a good fit with her unique background and give her a sense of accomplishment and pride in her work.
 
Erin started with Bambiz as an Account Coordinator in early 2019. Creating comprehensive marketing campaigns to fill attorney educational workshops is Erin’s specialty. She also trains law firms on best practices for hosting successful workshops. The knowledge that families are putting plans in place to leave a legacy for future generations brings her great satisfaction.
 
When she is not working, Erin is on the Board of Directors for Women United, a local organization that raises funds for women and children in her community. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son. Her favorite family activity is watching the sunrise in her small Florida beach town.

To Amie, there is no such thing as a stranger. By the time she was in 5th grade, she had penpals all over the world and had made connections with various professionals who later became her mentors. She learned very early on that the key to success was through relationships.
 
Being a people-person, Amie planted herself in work that involved helping others. From volunteering at nursing homes to being a receptionist for various companies, her love for people grewAlthough she had the heart, it wasn’t until she worked a particular Hilton Hotel where she learned the invaluable skills of working with people. This Hilton was ranked #1 in the nation for customer service. Her training there gave her the ability to master networking.
 
Arriving at Bambiz in 2018, Amie was given the opportunity to flex her muscles in relationship building. As a Marketing Coordinator, she gets to talk to new people every single day and bring value to their lives.

Joel Oquendo, Web Engineer

Calling Joel “data driven” would be a gross understatement. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering, respectively.

After college, Joel worked as an Engineer in the aerospace and military defense market, but he felt like something was missing. He did some freelance work in social media, websites, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). He enjoyed the creativity and freedom that his engineering job was lacking.

Joel decided it was time for a change. He packed up his life in New Jersey, said goodbye to his engineering career, and moved to Florida in pursuit of a fresh start in digital marketing. His goal was to develop himself and his skills enough to handpick his clients. Since then, he has been tremendously successful.

He has managed marketing campaigns for hyper-competitive NYC restaurants, Crossfit gyms, personal training studios, and other local businesses. He also ran an eCommerce marketing website that reached over 2.1 million page views in one year.

Joel is proficient in SEO and Content Marketing. He knows how to rank websites and create content that speaks directly to the ideal customer. Leveraging that experience, he joined the Bambiz team and helped launch our Local Authority Marketing Program. His goal is to get attorneys in front of their ideal client so they can help more people age with dignity.

When Joel is not working, he reads books while spending time with his two Chihuahuas (Bart and Kimi). He is also trying to improve his 5k time and enjoys lifting weights.

Two decades ago, you would have found Melissa running up and down the halls of a level one trauma center working as a pediatric respiratory therapist. Her job was to keep people breathing. She would have never guessed that 20 years later, she would still be taking care of people, but in a very different capacity.

After Melissa had her son, she and her husband packed up and moved the family back to the small Kansas town where she grew up. It was there that she was offered an opportunity to try her hand at writing.

While working as a part-time writer, she was offered a position as a paralegal in a busy law office. There she learned the ins and outs of different types of law, including Elder Care and Estate Planning. Her time in the emergency room gave her first-hand experience of seeing how fragile life can be and the importance of preparing for the unexpected.

Melissa found that her experience in the legal and medical fields created a perfect mix for writing attorney content, which led her to Bambiz in 2018. She creates both senior-focused content on behalf of our attorney clients, and marketing content for our own newsletters and blogs. Her goal is to create pieces that inspire action and allow attorneys to reach and connect with their ideal clients.

When not in her office typing away and sneaking in a few cuddles with her furry co-workers (dogs – Max and Myles), you can find Melissa outside with her sons and husband enjoying a variety of sports and other activities.
